Create History & Support Women
The following was an open letter to members from Kirsten:
Dear Member,
This is an important time in history for a great many reasons. The financial crisis has reached around the globe, the United States has a new President indicating dramatic policy change, and business around the world is changing rapidly. The rules are changing — both written and unwritten. This is an extraordinarily important time for women in business and I am asking you to help. Now is the time to stand up and make it happen. The financial landscape is changing significantly, and women need to be a part of that change. In the past there have been very few women CEOs, few women on boards, and few at the top of the decision making chain and in the highest levels of production. It is our responsibility to be a part of changing that. I founded Lady Advisor to be a hub and a catalyst to make this happen; however, I need your help. The only way to truly effect large scale change is for a great many people to be involved, and you are in a perfect place to be a part of it.
I would like to ask two things of you over the next few months. They are easy, fun and very fulfilling.
First, please support your fellow women advisors and women in business. Offer your support, your acknowledgment and your inspiration. You can also do this on the Lady Advisor community. Posting even a small note or comment can make a difference. We have a great many women reading our forums, but not as many posting. I am asking you to consider posting your thoughts, your ideas, and your opinion. Be a part of it. Posting even once a week you can make a big difference for women who are excited about being a part of a thriving and supportive community. Post as yourself, or do it anonymously. You are adding energy to the community, and these are the ingredients in effecting positive change for women as a whole.
It is extraordinarily important that women support other women. This is how we are going to gain equity in numbers and how women will rise to the top of success. Reach out and be an inspiration, be understanding and be thoughtful. This is not a time to expect perfection from one another or to judge one another, it is a time to step up to support and inspire. I also encourage you to support women who are interested in going into leadership. If you know of a women who would be a great leader, please encourage her right now.
Second, I encourage you to nominate a woman for our inspirational spotlights. The goal is to showcase the great many women who have inspired others and provide great examples for other women. Women need to be championed and congratulated — and they need to see and hear from other women. It is so very important that we showcase a great many women for their small and large contributions, their unique skills, their accomplishments and their gifts. Nominate at least one woman at any level of the business, whether a Financial Advisor, a manager or corporate leader, or other financial professional!
This is a time of change in a great many ways. It is my responsibility, and yours, to make this change happen for women. Take an active role — don’t sit back and watch.
In support and gratitude,
Kirsten
